It has likely come to your attention that a lot of my recipes feature Oreos. I’m not necessarily an Oreos fan, but my little sister is. She’s more than just a fan. I don’t think she can go more than a few days without fulfilling a craving for Oreos. They must be double-stuffed. So you can also consider her an Oreo snob! With her in mind, I make a lot of recipes that feature Oreos and I have to say, they usually turn out pretty tasty.
This particular suggestion actually came from my brother, who is also a big Oreo fan. I first made the recipe a few years back when all of a sudden, it seemed to be a fad to bake cookies inside of cookies! Not really knowing how they were supposed to turn out, I think I went a little overboard on cookie dough…these were GIANT cookies.
That said, I haven’t enjoyed any version of this better than this first effort. All the extra cookie dough meant that the cookie was still slightly soft in the middle (read: under-baked, the way a chocolate chip cookie should be).
Hint: go through the extra effort of making a batch of Tollhouse cookie dough. It works way better than if you try and use store-bought cookie dough in one of those packages. Those usually end up failing to rise and you get a weirdly flat Oreo shaped chocolate chip cookie. No bueno!
