You’ll see me posting loads of variations on my favorite Devil’s Food recipe. It’s a family recipe…one that I’m not going to share (sorry!) but it’s moist, full of chocolate-y goodness and just one of the best darn chocolate cakes out there. So, it serves as the base for many of my chocolate cupcake (and cake) creations.
When I make cupcakes for friends and family, I get a lot of requests for cookie cakes. Everyone likes a cake that features their favorite cookie flavors. So, when I mixed up this particular batch of Devil’s Food, I added Oreo cookie crumbles (just broke them down the old fashioned way, breaking them into pieces) and mini chocolate chips. The end result: a chunky, yummy, ooey gooey, cookie mess!
I topped this with a chocolate frosting, like this one here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/chocolate-frosting-recipe.html and a little Oreo slice.
